NOTE: When using the new CERAMIC grinders it is necessary to trim off the bottom of the shaft. The shaft has a groove, created in order to raise a burr, which stops the inner cone from slipping off. You should cut at the narrow neck of this groove, leaving the upper burr. If this is NOT done, the retaining ring (stirrup bar) will not seat properly. The purpose of the groove was to create the correct gap , relevant to the earlier Cole & Mason pepper & salt mechanisms, where the retaining roing (stirup bar) was of a slightly different design.

“CRUSHGRIND”
|
The “CRUSHGRIND” mechanism, which can be used for pepper, salt and all spices, is Ceramic and is complete, within a nylon holder, which is fitted, under slight pressure, into the pre-formed wooden body. The top is made of hard nylon, into which the drive shaft fits, being retained by an internal spring clip. The whole of the top drive piece also fits, under pressure, within the wooden top. All adjustment to the coarseness of grind is made at the base. This leaves the imaginative woodturner free to create an artistically attractive top piece, unfettered by the need for a brass or chrome top knob. INSTRUCTIONS FOR ASSEMBLY |
